Franken Condemns Coleman’s Vote To Kill Bi-Partisan Effort To Bring Troops Home

Posted in Press Releases on July 18th, 2007

SAINT PAUL [7/18/07] - Statement from Al Franken:

“Norm Coleman had a choice today. He could have voted with a bi-partisan majority to bring our troops home from Iraq. Republican Senators from Maine, Nebraska, and Oregon did the right thing, stepping away from the President and voting to support the measure. But Norm Coleman stood in the way and voted to kill this bi-partisan effort.”

“We here in Minnesota send our Senators to Washington to stand up for our interests. And we want change in Iraq. But instead of standing up for us, Norm Coleman stood with George W. Bush.”

“Today could have been the beginning of the end of the war in Iraq. But thanks to the obstructionism of Norm Coleman and his allies in the George W. Bush camp, another day goes by without a plan to end this war and bring our troops home.”
