Stewpots in Browerville

Posted in From the Trail on October 29th, 2007

Sunday morning, Team Franken headed north to Browerville for the Todd County Stewpot Fundraiser. It turned out to be one of the most delicious events of the campaign season. There were the promised stewpots, filled with beef, beans, and a truly tasty wild rice dish. Not to come empty-handed, Team Frankener Pam brought chocolate-frosted rice bars, and Franni auctioned off one the prettier apple pies we’ve seen.

The whole event wasn’t about food, though. There was also a little politics, and Al spoke about values, and how the DFL Party has become both the liberal and conservative party in the past years. As he says, there’s nothing conservative about trillion dollar deficits, or revoking habeus corpus. There’s nothing conservative about bridges to nowhere and the fiscal irresponsibility the Republicans in Congress allowed this President to get away with.

After the speeches, the live auction began, and Al’s map of the lower 48 fetched a pretty nice price for the Todd County DFL.
