SAINT PAUL [2/4/08] – The Al Franken for U.S. Senate campaign is proud today to announce the endorsement of former U.S. Senate candidate Jim Cohen.

Throughout his 40 years in public service, Jim Cohen has been a human rights attorney, a consumer advocate, a grassroots organizer, a teacher, and an environmental leader. And for the last year, we’ve had the honor of being joined by him on the campaign trail, where Jim was a consistent and passionate champion of progressive values, and a new politics of unification.

Jim released the following statement:

“Al Franken has the right voice, compassion, demonstrated commitment to progressive values, energy and the most resources, and he will work tirelessly to ensure we defeat Norman Coleman this November. Al Franken has the right message to bring back jobs and prosperity, provide affordable health care for all, and to make America a nation where the American Dream is not just an unattainable dream but a reality once again.

“Both Al and I have crisscrossed Minnesota and know what it is to be tested on the political battlefield, fighting for our visions. I have seen Al Franken in action and have become convinced that he is our strongest candidate to defeat Norman Coleman and put America back on the right track. Al Franken is a leader; he will win in November, and he will fight everyday for working families. That is why I am so proud to endorse him as our next United States Senator from Minnesota.”
