Franken Campaign Raises $2.17 Million in Q1
Posted in Press Releases on April 11th, 2008SAINT PAUL [4/11/08] - Al Franken for U.S. Senate announced today that the campaign received contributions totaling over $2.17 million in the first fundraising quarter of 2008.
In total, over 95,000 individuals - including over 16,000 Minnesotans - have helped the campaign raise more than $9.2 million.
In the first quarter alone, 13,768 new people - including over 2,000 new Minnesotans - joined the campaign’s grassroots donor base. Overall, the campaign received contributions from nearly 5,000 Minnesota donors in the first quarter.
Communications Director Andy Barr:
“This has been a great quarter. We debuted our television ads introducing Al to general election voters, took a commanding lead in the DFL endorsement race with the withdrawal of Mike Ciresi, won critical labor and legislative endorsements, and recruited thousands of new donors.
“Norm Coleman has spent his time in Washington putting the special interests first. Today, our growing coalition for change puts him on notice once again: Minnesota wants a new direction.”
The campaign ends the quarter with over 70 endorsements from state legislators, the near-unanimous backing of the state’s labor unions, and nearly $3.5 million on hand.
