Kitchen Table Conversations

Al spent the past weekend visiting with Minnesota farmers in Renville, Sleepy Eye and Granite Falls. Rainy weather meant scrapping the original plans for Al to spend some time in the field. But they made up for it with a lot of kitchen-table conversations, and a lot of coffee.

The Granite Falls Advocate-Tribune covered Al’s visit, and Granite Falls farmer Tim Velde told the Advocate-Tribune about his experience hosting Al.

“He was very relaxed and straight forward. There were some lighter moments, but he was basically there … to hear it from an actual farmer and try to understand how the federal policies actually affect people in the country,” said Velde.

“I got the real sense that he is serious in what he is doing and I felt very confident in his approach to things and his commitment to getting information from the people who are going to be affected.”

The Advocate-Tribune also had this to say about Al:

A leader for the people

In his efforts to understand the view of the farmer and the latest in green energy technology, he sought information from the source. He utilizes this approach in understanding all of the issues the country faces. He relies on his daughter, who is a teacher, to act as “his liaison” for informing him on early childhood education programs. With 7 USO tours under his belt. He draws upon his past experiences in the middle east when making decisions that serve veterans and the military.

With his broad-based experience and freedom from corporate ties, Franken confidently states, “I will work for average working families here in Minnesota … We need leaders who will stand up to special interest and stand for American families. I intend to be that kind of leader.”
