Women for Franken Kicks Off with Capitol Event

Posted in Press Releases on July 9th, 2008

SAINT PAUL [7/9/08] – Today, the Al Franken for U.S. Senate campaign is proud to kick off a group to organize women in support of sending a new voice to Washington to join Senator Amy Klobuchar in standing up for Minnesota families.

“Minnesota’s working families need a Senator who’ll work with Amy Klobuchar to provide real security — economic security, transportation security, health care security, and family security — not one who’ll cancel out her vote. Norm Coleman has failed to lead on the issues that matter to the people of this state. I know we can count on Al to be a champion for us in Washington.”

–Speaker of the House Margaret Anderson Kelliher

“The one thing we don’t need to continue to have is Norm Coleman who cancels out Amy Klobuchar’s votes. I believe that Al has a real care and real concern for women, for children and for families, and that’s what’s important.”

–Fmr. Secretary of State Joan Growe

“I know Al will be a champion for women in the United States Senate. The fact that he’s brought us together as an advisory council is a reflection of his commitment to our issues. I am honored to be a member of this group.”

–Sen. Terri Bonoff

“We need Al Franken in the US Senate because we need more accountability and oversight at the federal level.”

–State Auditor Rebecca Otto

“Today, women in St. Paul and in Washington are joined together to stand up for Minnesota families,” said Franken. “And I’m running for office because I want to stand alongside them.”
