Franken Campaign Exposes Coleman’s Ever-Shifting Excuses For Failing To Hold Greedy Contractors Accountable
Saint Paul [09/26/08] – Norm Coleman has had so many excuses for failing to do his job investigating war profiteering as Chairman of the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations that it can be hard to keep them straight. So today, the Al Franken for Senate campaign released a new web video, “Norm’s Dodge,” to help Minnesotans remember all the different – and false – reasons he’s offered to try to avoid responsibility.
Communications Director Andy Barr:
“Harry Truman, to whom Norm Coleman likes to compare himself, drove his Dodge around the country shutting down war profiteers BEFORE they could rip off taxpayers for billions. Norm Coleman, put in charge of the same committee, spent four years dodging his duty – and we’re paying the price for his failure. Now that Halliburton and other greedy contractors have ripped off taxpayers to the tune of nearly $15 billion, Norm wants to dodge blame for his inaction. But his constantly shifting excuses simply aren’t true – and the fact is that Norm Coleman let our country down when he let his campaign contributor and other contractors get away with record corruption.”
