Democrats are responding to the GOP attack on women’s rights. Tuesday Senate Dems announced they would continue to support abortion rights despite the fact that House Republicans are working overtime trying to restrict if not eliminate access to safe and legal abortions.

Sens. Barbara Boxer of California, Al Franken of Minnesota, Frank Lautenberg of New Jersey, Kirstin Gillibrand of New York, Patty Murray of Washington, and Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut, with support of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), announced they are united in their efforts to thwart the draconian and backward legislation aimed to restrict reproductive freedom.

Chris Smith’s (R-N.J.) “No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act.” Energy and Commerce will follow Wednesday when it takes up Chairman Joe Pitts’s (R-Pa.) legislation, the “Protect Life Act,” or H.R. 358.
