If you like fireworks, cotton candy, face painting, and lots and lots of TeamFranken t-shirts, then this is your Super Bowl.

Parade season is upon us, and to celebrate Independence Day, Al, Franni, Thomasin, and Joe are fanning out across the state. TeamFranken will have an entry in nearly 40 parades, from Grand Marais to Madison and everywhere in between.

And WE NEED YOU to walk with us. You’ll be handing out stickers, holding signs, and if Al happens to be in your parade, marveling at his stamina as he runs back and forth shaking hands and kissing babies.

A big thank you to everyone who voted for Al in the ‘Pick A Progressive Patriot’ contest. Because of you, that’s another $5000 in the bank as we wrap up this financial quarter! Our finance staff would be writing this themselves, but they’re pretty busy right now raising money (help them out and vote before June 25th for Al to receive the support of Sen. Barbara Boxer’s PAC for a Change!)

It’s that time of year again. Al, Franni, Thomasin, and the rest of TeamFranken are kicking off parade season this week, and we need all of you to join us and show how strong TeamFranken is. We’ll bring the signs and banners, you just bring yourself and your TeamFranken t-shirt. (If you don’t have a shirt, don’t worry – we’ll have one for you.) Then you’ll walk the route with us – it’s really simple, and one of the most fun ways to volunteer all summer.

This Sunday is the Pride Parade in Minneapolis (we’re meeting at 9am in front of the downtown Minneapolis library), but we’ll be at parades all over the state for the next couple months. Check out our online Volunteer Center for a list of upcoming volunteer opportunities. (You can even sign up right there!) Email volunteer@alfranken.com for more information or to sign up for a shift. Our biggest parade day is July 4th, so if you can help out then, let us know!

Senator Russ Feingold’s Progressive Patriots Fund will donate $5000 to Al’s campaign, but only if you show your support by voting for him on their web site! TV ads aren’t free, but casting this ballot is — this is an easy way to make a difference (though we’ll still need you on the phones and knocking on doors), so vote for Al today!
