Jim Bootz, Chair of the DFL Veterans Caucus, and Jim Judson, Chair of Veterans for Franken, tell us why they are going to caucus for Al on Tuesday, February 5. Al, like Senator Wellstone before him, believes that we need to support our Veterans. This can be accomplished through adequate funding of Veteran’s programs along with a guarantee of top-notch healthcare for those returning from combat.
Pat Flanagan, President of St. Paul Firefighters Local 21, IAFF, tells us why he's going to caucus for Al on Tuesday, February 5. Pat thinks that Al is the best candidate because he knows the issues important to Minnesotans. Also as a veteran, Pat admires everything that Al has done for both soldiers and veterans. He also states that he is anxiously waiting for Al to have the opportunity to debate Norm Coleman on the issues.

Al lays out his priorities for a veterans' agenda - and kicks off Vets for Franken! Al started his speech talking about his time on the USO tours and the amazing service that our Veterans give to us, in Iraq, Afghanistan, and throughout the world. The benefits that veterans receive are not given, but they are earned. Al has pledged to fight every day to honor our commitment to the brave men and women serving our country.
We were honored to have former Governor, former Senator, university president and 9/11 commission member Bob Kerrey keynote our rally. Senator Kerry started his speech by telling the audience that his main reason for coming was to make sure that Al is Minnesota’s next US Senator. He believes that Al is the best person to represent Minnesota and to bring a sense of honor back to the United States both domestically and abroad.
Dr. Bob founded Operation Helmet, which has sent almost 40,000 helmet liners to our soldiers in the field. He is very grateful for Al’s support of this program and for giving him a national audience on Al’s Air America radio show. He also talked about the great generosity of the American people for funding his program and potentially saving the lives of countless soldiers in Iraq.
